Raid/Instances For Gold

[:1]Hi guys, Im a level 35 Troll Hunter. I want to sprawl through the levels all the way to 40. Do you guys have any suggestions on any dungeons/raids to kill for good exp (2k~3k exp per kill)? If so, please tell me. Cause i am in SERIOUS need for it. And while you're at it. Also tell me some good places to farm for gold. :) Thanks guys! ~|||irrespective of level, press 'i' and select a random instance. You'll get decent exp and a reward bag that has a nice item as well.|||I tried it, but i waited for half an hour, and nothing happened. Is this a bug?|||No, just lack of patience.

On a more serious note, the wait can sometimes be quite long, especially as a DPS class (which is less in demand). Half an hour is quite steep though, it was probably a bad moment to try. But it's not a bug.|||It still doesnt let me enter. But thats not exactly the point. Are there any zones or areas where i can kill monsters that give good exp?|||you could quest while waiting - if you're ever unsure where to go, there is a sort of notice board in Org (warchief's board? something like that), that has breadcrumb quests to areas suitable for your level.|||Where is this War-chief's board exactly? I cant find it.|||Orgrimmar, Bank and Auction House area. It should have a yellow quest exlamation mark.

Loot in Instances - Newbie Q

[:1]Hi

Please forgive me if this is wrong part of forum - I did consider Raids and Instances first, but thought this was a Newbie queation would be best here. Thanks

I did my first dungeon with 5 others; as a priest lvl 16. It was the quest one at Sentinel Hill - It was confusing what was happening for the quest, as I did not know what to expect !!

Anyway, my question is about the loot allocation, plus how do I know what i need - In this case as a Priest, while on the Instance, esp in the early days of being a newbie...obviously, if I saw a Wand or something of that discription, then I would press NEED for that

Is there a place I can learn about what each Class needs, in order to be kitted out correctly etc?

I also noticed that when on the 'run' that I was not receiving any item (apart from a little cash), so at one point I pressed NEED for a pair of boots. I was later sent a commet about this and told I was being greedy as i did not really require them

I apologised and explained that I was new and not know and offered to give this item to him (also noticed it was quite valueable), but also when i looked in my inventory later, that I had not received any item apart from 'junk', although there seemed to be quite a few items being 'rolled' - I think I know what that means - well maybe lol

What is the 'etiqutete' in these instances and how does the leader make sure that everyone one gets a reasonable share of the loot items?

Any advice on such things, would be gratefully received, as I dont want to unnecassarily upset anyone while in these situations

Thanks|||To receive regular items (grey/white), you'll need to loot mobs yourself. This might not be immediately apparent to you, as other people looting mobs will still give you money (it's split between everyone in a group) and Uncommon (green) or better items will give a Need or Greed roll.

If you join a random group through the dungeon finder, the loot system is set automatically and there is nothing you can do to change it. In a pre-made group, the leader can set the loot system of their choice.

Priests generally look for +int and+spirit items. All secondary stats would be useful to you in some form (+crit, +haste and +spellpower). You can only wear cloth armour, which rules out the rest. If I am not mistaken, you can actually roll need on it till higher level, so you might wish to double check for the armour type before pressing need. Every class can use Rings, Trinkets and Necklaces. Just check that they have stats to your liking (e.g. a +str/+stam ring won't help you).

Priests can use Wands, so you were fine pressing Need there, as long as it is better than the one you currently have. It'd be a bit rude to roll Need on the next Blue Wand if you actually won the first one.

Weapons are obvious, if you can not use them, they'll be shown as red or you can not even roll need on them (see the bit about rolling on gear above though, I'm not sure when that restriction kicks in). Keep in mind that not everything would be an upgrade. Say you got a nice rare Staff and a rare Dagger drops - that isn't guaranteed to be better than what you have.|||Quote:

Hi Aerath

Thank you for your helpful and informative reply

I assume when it comes to pressing the Greed button, that it is down to 'fate' what you might be allocated?

Also, I assume that if you dont press any buttons during the Instance or whatever, then you get nothing, by default?

Is it the case then that you should always press 'Greed'; unless you select Need, because you really need the item ?

Sorry if they seem silly questions, but am just trying to grasp what is acceptable or not, BEFORE I get into a situation that is upsetting people, esp because of ignorance

Thanks again|||Because I was always at the upper level for the instance's I've completed (i.e 75-80 I was 80) all items dropped were of a lower quality than the gear I was already using (and not worth 1000's gp), so I just passed on the loot by closing the loot box.

A lot of people advocate to Greed on everything you don't Need!!

My point of view is this; if there isn't anything that I need and it isn't worth much, then why greed on something that I know would benefit my fellow dungeoneers lot more than it would myself.

Besides even if you don't win you could try asking politely if they will give you the item for an alt etc...|||Quote:

Hi Dwemer,

You're welcome =)

Anyone pressing Need will overrule all the Greed rolls. If everyone in the party selects Greed (or Disenchant) - or passes, the game does a /roll 100 for everyone that selected Greed/DE. The highest roll wins. If people tie, the game picks one of them.

If multiple people roll Need on something, the game will roll for those that pressed Need.

Need basically means "this is better than what I have, and I will equip it straight away/when I get to the appropriate level". Greed means "I could use it, I suppose, but it's not a huge upgrade." Or, "Gimme the money!". It's something you might put on another character of yours, sell on the Auction House or just vendor.

If you do not press anything (either by letting the timer run out, or pressing the X in the right corner), you will not roll and will not receive any of the goodies found throughout the run.

So, basically, yes - Greed is the 'default' option.|||Quote:

Hi Aerath and Elder

Thanks for your replies - again very helpful and I will move forwrd with a little more confidence.... all I have got to do now, is recognise what I NEED and press the button in time LOL!!

Loving the dungeon (as a healer) runs - 2 so far, and the guild I joined were so helpful and patient (not sure if you are allowed to say, so I wont just now)

Makes the experience so much better in WoW

thanks again..look out for my 'silly' questions again, so I can receive your helpful advice :)

Looking for fellow noobs to do heroic instances - Lightning's Blade (Horde)

[:1]I'm not sure if I should've posted this here or in the Newcomer's forum but thought I might get a better response here.

Basically, I'm looking for fellow noobs who want to some heroic (or even normal!) instances.

My main character is a level 85 (obviously) hunter. I only started playing WoW a few months ago and have been loving it - except for heroic instances. While I can see the potential for fun, this seems to be taken away by the fact that I always seem to end up with a group that either mock because I don't know the tactics of a particular boss, get mad because my DPS isn't high enough or leave when we wipe. Don't get me wrong, I know there are kind, helpful players out there but recently (especially in heroics) I seem to be ending up in groups with impatient players who get angry when you're not sure what you're doing. What should be fun just turns into a totally miserable experience. I rarely do instances because of this and know I'm missing out on a huge chunk of the fun because of it.

Before anyone suggests it, yes, I do belong to a guild and they are very helpful, but they are also very experienced with instances and raids. While I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem showing me the ropes, I thought it might be more of a laugh to get together with some fellow noobs and figure things out as we go along.

If you're interested, message me. :)|||Noob? You are level 85! You need some "Veterans" or something. People who work hard on the game for months or even years at a time.
