[:1]What do you do with em ?
Im starting to get a real pile of em , bought one of the "account bind" weapons , but hell have no real use for it since i still enjoy my hunter .
|||You can buy epic trinkets, the token for the T7 gloves and chest, offhands. A few things, but not that many really. If you don't raid on a toon they're a good way to get the T7 chest and gloves since otherwise you need to kill 4 horsemen and Sartharion.
If you've bought all of the epic gear you need/want there's the BoA things and some PvP gear I think. I've heard, but not seen confirmed, that you'll be able t buy epic gems with them in 3.1. Oh and 200 of them gets you a mount from Mei Francis.|||ahh.. 200 emblems a mount...diddnt know that :)
Guild run all content on farm so gear is not needed
maybe save up more to see what gems they offer after patch though|||In the same bucket mostly, though I bought the OH and trinkets since I ran a lot of heroics before Naxx. I'm saving mine for gems.
Oh and you can buy frozen Orbs too. Some people do that and sell those on the AH though it seems a waste of emblems

Out of role priorities on Naxxramas fights
[:1]Is the topic says, this post has been written to give some insight to where in Naxx that the obvious role of direct damage/healing etc has to be set aside for the sake of the raid as a whole.
I wrote this guide as a help for my guildmembers in <Swordid>, but have thought about it, and do now want to share my view with the rest of the community.
I will always welcome constructive critisism, and do not expect all to agree with what i've written or the way i propose things to be done - but you are more than welcome to adapt the methods you seem fit. (and of course disregard the things you do not want to use.)
This guide is also freely yours to copy/paste on any forum/website you deem it useful on - all i ask in return is for me to be credited for the work.
I have written this guide to make it more obvious to all raiding members of <Swordid> to know what is being expected of them in any of the fights we will encounter in Naxxramas. When it comes to do something different that just standing and shooting/slashing away at the boss.
In most of the boss encounters in Naxxramas the bosses have some nasty tricks up their sleeve, that the raid has to cope with. This will more often than not require some or or more of the raidmembers to differ from their normal role of straight out dps/healing etc.
I have compiled a list of each encounter in Naxxramas by quarter.
I can not force anyone to read or learn this by heart - but i do hope that you will, as I see this as required knowledge.
This list is in no way also the only knowledge you should have on the fights.
http://wowwiki.com/Naxxramas holds a complete list of all boss encounters, including their abilities and proposed tactics.
Read them, learn them, know them and love them, they will make our progress and teamwork more efficient, when all knows what to do, when to do it and how to do it.

This ability will wipe all threat. This ability lasts 20 seconds and cannot be removed by any means.

Other than the above, Kel'Thezad will frequently cast a frost bolt, wich should be interupted my any means available,as to ease the healers job, so they can focus on the tanks, and those being iceblocked
Regarding the iceblock (Frost Blast), i'm sure the healers know this, but it will deal 104% of the affected players maximum health in 4 seconds, if not healed they will die.

The infected played HAVE to move ASAP out near the wall at a open spot BEHIND the boss and wait for the injection to drop.
doing this will keep the inner area of the room clear of poison clouds, anableing the raid to move along with the boss doing what they are supposed to .. tank, spank, heal and kill.
The infection is not to be removed at all in this fight due to the resulting poison clouds ! (only ones allowed to divert from this rule is those that has absolute control over this fight, and know exactly where to stand and what to do at any given point of the fight. and only to use it on themselves when standing out of the way where the injection is supposed to be dropped!)
Priority takers on Fallout Slime:

Sapphiron 10 Man
[:1]Ok. Here's the situation. On Tuesday, me and my raiding mates DISMANTLED three out of the four wings in 10 man naxx. On Wednesday, we burned through Construct quarter like a hot knife through butter, and then got DESTROYED by Sapphiron.
Yes, we are de-cursing. We had gear that is a mixture of item level 200 and 213 (10 and 25 man tier 7 and equivalents), and yet we were getting torn to shreds by the Frost Aura, which appears to be ticking once a second.
Is that how it's supposed to be? I can't believe that having downed Kel'Thuzad on 25 man, we're having trouble with Sapphiron on 10 man.
Any heads up, knowledge etc.?|||I heard the rumour that there's a bug in Naxx10 concerning Sapph, and that he does 4k more damage than he's supposed to do. Tanking my first heroic.
[:1]Those of you who do not wish to read the entire story are more than welcome to skip right to the questions part.
Last night I tanked my very first heroic (or at least I tried to).
Before going in I researched every boss - including running the normal instance - I made sure I had my consumables, my tanking gear, and a few extra addons to help me. This brought me to my very first problem:
Between "Annoying Buff Reminder" doing what it should (being really annoying) and SCT's notifications each time a rune activates, I went into a complete information overload. I didn't really have any screen real-estate to see what's going on either. Oh, and that macro that I deleted for "I have Macro LOL"? Yeah... that turned out to be important. It was my Death Grip.
After getting everything in a manageable state, and replacing the Warlock who left (I don't really blame him) with a death knight, I was ready to try again. I was so happy to get my Death Grip back that I immediately used it to pull. Duh! That left a caster way to the back beating on my healer, and me no way to get to it. With everyone in my party beating on mobs other than the marked one (I have Pitbull... I can see what you are doing!) things quickly turned chaotic.
Well, the healer died - along with everyone else - and promptly left. I apologised to everyone (including a whispered apology to the healer, along with an offer to pay his repair bills), and also left.
So, to the questions:
For everyone:
For Death Knights:
Thanks everyone!
My armory|||if you get in a situation like that with a caster out of reach beating on the healer. get as close as you can and give it a strangulate. this will stop them casting and force them to use melee to attack you and will pull itself to you. if your strangulate is on CD, then use unholy command so that the caster is at least attacking you and not your healer.
putting a comment like "this is my first heroic" is a very bad idea. I'm guessing you were doing either HoL or HoS, so try for something a little easier like VH. also being a tank doesn't mean you have to lead. if you feel uncomfortable marking, give leadership to someone else and concentrate on tanking. I'll leave the other questions to someone with more experience with DK tanking.|||First of all I would say just say just keep trying. Second is that succes does not only rely on the tank. If your DPSers are crap, you won't get far either.
Also I'm not sure about this, but I believe Frost is the proper tanks spec for a DK?
I am pretty sure you can turn of anything you want in SCT with /sct config.
Lastly, it also really depends on which heroics you do. Some are harder than others.|||Quote:

Strangulate has a pretty big long, and I didn't even think about using it . I was just trying to get aggro somehow without losing it on the other two (which wasn't half as important as getting the caster off my healer). Thanks, that should make it a bit easier next time. I'll also do a bit of a check on any more spells with a long range.

Cool. I'll start of with VH, and try to see if I can get someone else to mark (I'm not expecting much luck, but it's worth a try). It will be easier if I can only focus on keeping aggro (and staying alive) until I get used to this.

Not really. Apparantly it is slightly better after the last patch, but Blizzard does want all the trees to be able to tank (so they have pretty nifty tanking talents in all the trees). Frost presence is the tanking presence, but you don't need to be frost to use it.

tbh your death and decay, plus pestilence should be enough to keep aggro on most targets. if you give the dps a killing order then you can just put down death and decay, and your diseases on all the targets then just concentrate on the target that is being killed first. you should have no problems with aggro. your most important job is to protect the healer, without a healer, you'll wipe. you should also have an attack that activates when you parry or dodge an attack (can't remember the name), and produces a high amount of aggro (rather like a warrior's revenge attack), you want to use this as often as you can (and since most DK tanks have a parry and dodge rate of 20%, it activates a lot).
you'll soon find that you don't need to mark at all, and can keep aggro on multiple targets with all your dps'ers attacking different targets. this of course takes time to perfect so for now just mark up (using the raid icons). there are times when there is no need/time to mark, for instance in VH, you aren't going to be able to mark very much because you're on a timer.|||Start with the instance you know best. 75% of being a good tank comes from knowing the instance and the mobs in it.
As for recognising casters : Anything with a mana bar is potentialy dangerous. If you have multible mobs with mana, tell the party to stand back, pull the group and run around a corner, so they all have to follow you and stand in one spot. You dont realy need a addon for that ^^
Dont forget that your death grip is a taunt. If you use it, wait with it as long as possible.|||Quote:

I would run H UK for now. Just remember your D&D and your pestilance and you should be able to keep aggro. This is the single best advise you can get. I'd suggest running the instances on normal so you know the basics at least. Additionally, it gives you a bit of more practise with the basics of tanking.

Again, viable advise. Just pay attention to one thing - occasionally it's the melee mobs that are the most dangerous. The skirmishers in (Heroic) Ajzol-Nerub are a prime example.
Part of this problem (recognising the dangerous stuff) is readily solved with the bit above.|||first time reading this.
here's my thought.
you pulled the wrong mob towards you. if you death grip, at least deathgrip the caster. if you do not and the caster is outside your DnD, any heals on you will pull the casters aggro to the healer. basic tanking 101.
also learn to mark. i dont care if you mark out of conventional order, just make sure everyone's on the same page. meaning, kill skull first.
your healer should also move out of LOS if he received aggro from the caster. this would usually make the caster run into your DnD, which in turn, makes the caster change targets to you.
there is no real tanking spec for deathknights. all three works fine, but if you go hybrid, know that you're missing out on some good talents far into the tree.
if you really need to know who to blame, here is the basics:
if the dps dies, its his fault.
if the tank dies, its the healer's fault.
if the healer dies, its the tanks fault.
though not all 100% true, this is the basic guideline.
for example, this really happened: last night i was healing where a DPS pull aggro from another group (yea totally wtf was that??) as i pulled off a big heal on the tank. needless to say, the new group made a beeline towards me. i tried running into a DnD to pull that aggro off of me. the time spent running to the DnD was precious, as the tank lost most of his health within that time. now with 6 mobs hitting him at once at about 25% health, my heals came a little too late. if i didnt have to run to the DnD, the tank would have stayed alive. thats one example how the above blame guideline isnt true.
ok... good luck with your tanking.
- How do I get the confidence to go back into a heroic? My guild isn't 80 yet, and there aren't any "new 80" guilds on the server (from what I've seen).
- Would it be better to put "Tank - but my first heroic" - or something like that - in the comments field? It might stop me from getting any invites, but it might also help to get a more sympathetic (and maybe better) group.
- Is there a way to switch off the rune notification in SCT?
- Is there a mod which can tell me if a mob is a caster (so I can prepare for a death grip, or do a LoS pull if there are more than one. This used to be easy when casters in instances wore cloth... but not all of them do anymore)? (gief more addons!!111!!).
For Death Knights:
- Should I respec for unholy blight (I'm currently 22/4/44). It would mean losing Veteran of the Third war, but I think I can afford that (I have unbuffed health of close to 27k with frost presence)
- My rotation is currently: Icy Touch, Death and Decay, (death grip ranged), Plague Strike, Pestilence, Blood Tap, Blood Boil, (then some single target dps, and keeping all diseases on targets). Should I improve this?
Thanks everyone!

Drak keep and achievements...
[:1]So the past week and a half has been pretty frusterating on mine and my wife's end concerning this instance and getting the achievement, or lack there of in our case.
I have ran it on both regular and heroic at least 5 times, and it wasn't until last night, while on a heroic running of it, that I picked up the achievement after killing the first boss.
This was my wife's third attempt at this achievement and after killing all the bosses all three times, she still didn't get the achievement.
No your probably wondering why it is a big deal? Well she needs the achievements cause she is a tailor and is trying to make the wispcloak.
Of course GM's give me the standard "known issue" answer.
Anyone else having issues over this?
Thanks a bunch.|||Drak'tharon Keep has 4 bosses, and 1 of them is optional. For the achievement you need to kill all 4 and the optional one is King Dred, dinosaur patrolling in a pen between 2nd and 4th bosses. If you are sure that you have killed Prophet Tharon'ja, the skeletal thing, then Dred is the only possible one missing.
Have you checked from her achievemt page which bosses she has done there? Are you sure that she has killed Dred instead of being in a group that skipped him?
I've never been in a situation where an achievement simply refuses to update, but if that's what's happening to you and GM's wont help, there's really no other option than running it until it works.|||Quote:

On her achievement page it has the prophet listed twice and only one of them is checked as complete.
All the times we go in there, including last night, we took on King Dredd, to our dismay as he wiped us with that stupid raptor call and the bleed effects...ugh.. but yes we downed him.

I've never been in a situation where an achievement simply refuses to update, but if that's what's happening to you and GM's wont help, there's really no other option than running it until it works.
On her achievement page it has the prophet listed twice and only one of them is checked as complete.
All the times we go in there, including last night, we took on King Dredd, to our dismay as he wiped us with that stupid raptor call and the bleed effects...ugh.. but yes we downed him.
We also downed the first Troll boss, the lich looking magic guy with the shield and adds and the prophet in the end, she won the healing trinket and the frozen orb.
I don't understand what the deal is either.|||He is buggy. I guess you have to hope for luck or wait for a fix.|||some friends of mine doing occulus achievment other day with the healing drakes. 4 got the achiev 1 didnt and the gm said sorry we know there is a problem. i hope it works and you get the achievment next time you run it|||Quote:

That would really p%$& me off. Occulus sucks to run anyway and then to have to do the same achievement over. No thanks.|||I also missed getting the achievement when I did DTK the first time round.. next time I did get it, though. Just clench your teeth and run it a few more times, I'm afraid.|||i got it the first time playing it. what i didnt get.. was what the hell Drakkaru wanted me to kill everyone in drak tharon keep, when half of them were on his own side. and dont tell me which side he was on, i know. avoiding spoilers.|||Quote:

Gluth 10 man
[:1]I am the GM of a small raiding guild currently clearing all of naxx thru construct. We just recently took down grobbulus but were hesitant to try Gluth because we were without a mage or hunter. I've been reading thru strats on a few websites but almost all mention the use of a frost mage or a hunter to kite the zombies. We have both in guild but both can be a bit flakey.
Has anyone successfully done this with another class as the primary kiter?
I've read about a shaman doing it but I can't really imagine being able to do it (I'm a resto shaman) with just earthbind and frost shock if 5-10 zombies are running at me constantly with the fairly long CD on earthbind. Just want to know if anyone has another strategy available. We have two locks who could use fear possibly I guess....
Thank you for any advice.|||Oh we've kited them with a DK and warrior tanking them trading taunts. They need heals more than a kiter who doesn't get hit, but if you can do that you're OK|||Paladins of all specs also work well. Just make sure that whichever class you pick for it, your hunters are laying frost traps and shammies are earth binding to help out.|||Minor run speed from meta, enchant or even PvP boots can help a bit. If you have more shamans try to spread the EBs a a bit. If things get out of hand you can have more dps join the kiting as you go. It's not really that hard compared to the rest of the fights, so don't be afraid of trying.|||we have only been able to do it with a ret pally kiting and a mage and hunter helping out with frost nova and traps, when we use the hunter she seems to end up getting caught and getting one hit. More practice i guess, we seem to have the most trouble on this fight more than any other in Naxx|||I've done it a few times as hunter with shammy using earthbind totem to slow them down... it's not horribly hard, but gives me a bit of a headache x)
But last weekend I was tanking on my druid... and we had the melee group from hell. 4 Pallies of all specs, warriors + rogues.. and only 1 ranged nuker.
What worked for us in the end, was having me tanking boss, with the prot pally offtank & dps warrior taking turns at kiting them by just spamming taunts & keeping shields up.
After every add kill phase, they'd swap position as offtank on the boss (with me tanking untill their debuff cleared off).|||We've used the DK (or pally) + Shaman combo pretty successfully. The "kiter" will need heals because they will start to stack the debuff. (We have an elemental shaman, who can handle the healing fine until the decimate, when a healer repositions to make sure the DK gets healed back up.
Edit: In 25 man, we've used warriors as well, so that should work if you don't have the DK or pally.|||Having a plate DPS bring some tank gear for kiting really helps in this fight,
Make sure your Holy Pallies keep their "Holy Wrath " Cd for decimate makes it really easy to AOE the adds down.
We had a great group last night and didnt raise a sweat.
Ret pally in Tank gear to Kite
Holy pally healing Kiter and saving "holy wrath" for Decimate
Hunter dropping frost trap on adds and DPSing boss
Shaman DPSing Boss but dropping Earthbind totem on adds
Mage DPSing Boss but throwing in a Frost nova on adds when needed.|||You can have any spec dk, pally, shammy, or hunter kite it. Even my resto druid does it sometimes.
If your kiting though you need a hunter or shaman for totems/trap.
If you kite right you should hardly get hit. Though if you don't have a good kiter any plate class should easily be able to do it.|||If your raid, like ours, has an unhealthy amount of Death Knights, you can just tell one of them to tank all zombies for the entire fight. Even with 99 stacks, the damage can be easily outhealed (don't try this in 25-man version, though).

Sartharion 3D. 25 man.
[:1]So who here is finding Sartharion with 3 dragons up realllllyyy hard?
If you don't... any tips? pointers?
One of our tanks (any of them) seem to be dying, and our dps just can't stay alive.
Our gear and skills are good (we've cleared all content) just finding it very hard. I know, we probably need more practice, but just asking for tips and pointers really :D
thanks.|||How did you do with 1 drake up? With 2?|||With one drake up its fine.
With 2 (now i'm thinking this is the problem, forgot to mention this actually) we haven't actually tried properly. The raid seem to think if its do-able with 1, its do-able with 3.
Its probably a good tip to do it with 2 drakes first :P|||yeah..... try 2|||Ok... but any other tips for staying alive?
dps seem to die very quickly.|||Don't stand in the fire?
Burn down the drakes asap? Think it was the second drake you needed to burn asap, as he's the one to really bring on the hurt.
Unfortunately, we haven't done Sarth w/ 3, so can't offer first hand experience, but EJ features (as usual) a lengthy discussion on the topic. It might be of interest to you.|||well, try 2 drakes first.
DPS dieing ? tell them to get a thread meter. Or to actualy look at it. There is no excuse ever for DPS to die unless a tank dies. Dont stand in the fire, and dont pull agro. There is nothing more to it. ( from a dps perspective )|||I'll check it out Aerath. Thanks :)|||twoflower i love your simple views on the fight keep up the good work :)|||There's no point trying with 2 tbh. You may as well try 3 and then kill 1 before your last try before reset. There is a wealth of information out there on this fight which has been explained far better than I could be bothered to :)
This is a good place to start

Back from a long vacation...
[:1]And my server pretty well died off. It went from being High pop to Low pop.
So now I'm finding it quite difficult to find groups for various level brackets. All the low level stuff has been doable with the right timing, but anything higher than SM has been tough to find groups for (apart from hellfire citadel).
I've been contemplating a move to a new server but I'd hate to go through the trouble to find it just the same. Not to mention I started a guild just to have the bank (got 4 Tabs so far) and I can't transfer it.
Anyone out there on a higher pop server having trouble finding groups?|||yeah, It will be that way till dual spec and beyond. All the healers are dps till eighty and hard to heal past gnomer in dps gear and not enough room or time to acquire two sets and level so good luck instances are ghost towns on weeends and worse on week days.|||Quote:

That was irony, right ?|||dps gear = spellpower gear = healing gear
Perhaps dps spec was intended? I'd have to disagree however that healing past gnomer in dps spec is hard. I haven't had any troubles yet, and the reports from more advanced healers than me are that it is quite doable until northrend.|||uhm blush. yeah spec was what I meant and have not had the heart to try it except with buddies. I suffer frome comparison to the wondertwins. One is resto druid running with a ret pally healer. it is possible but much harder especially without the int spirit gear. I am running a druid. It is probably easier with a boomkin or priest. I really have not given boomkins a fair try. I woul rather play a mage. It is not really needed to run instances while leveling. They are to hard to get and waiting for everyone arrive is wasting exp getting time. I usually do not bother. I would like to see sunwell though. maybe for nostalgias sake at eighty.|||as a boomkin and a mage player i can say that boomkin are quite different..
mage:
- Fireball, Fireball, Fireball, Frost Nova, run a bit, Fireball or Dragon's Breath
Boomkin:
- Root, Insect Swarm, Moonfire, Starfire (hope eclipse procs), Wrath, re-Root, Starfire
a lot more focus on control than "nuke so hard they drop dead before they reach me". Granted, my mage is L43, my druid L72.

Heroic UP
[:1]We tried heroic UP last night, and got stuck on Skadi the Ruthless.
We tried several strategies, even those listed on WoWWikki, but were still not able to take him down.
We had a mix of very well geared players (a mage and DK decked out in epics), as well as myself, a moonkin, and a healing druid- all of which were in blues.
Now, I can admit my weaknesses and recognize that I'm not the end all and be all, but I think i tank fairly well. But I found the problem that I could sustain aggro on all the mobs that were coming out.
Has any other warriors found this to be a problem?
Could it have been a lack of gear, and lack of DPS output?
Our DK switched to his prot warrior (who as also fairly well geared), and together we still couldn't manage to take this guy down.
How have others faired? And what are your strategies? I'm feeling like a regular ol' noob...geeesh...I can't even take down a giant and his sissy dragon! *scoff*|||i usualy rushed them when i ran the instance quite a few times with my prot warrior for the sword.
First you have to get to know your trash adds. There is one huge wave coming at the beginning, then there are the pairs that spawn regulary, and then there are the pairs that stand in the corridor which you can pull pair by pair.
My usual tactic was : run in deep from the beginning. I always pulled a lot of the first wave as well as some of the pairs that would stand there. Thunderclap, shockwave, AoE damage. When the first wave is gone, i usualy end up with 2 pairs standing in the corridor, the 3 mob group at the end of the corridor and of course those who spawn regulary.
Then i always take one stationary pair and one fresh spawned pair, 4 mobs at a time. This means that within 2 more spawn cicles, you only have the 3 mob group at the end left.
I take those 3 with the next pair that spawns, so after 3 spawn cicles you have the corridor cleared out.
( We tried to take all the mobs at once by pulling from behind the boss, but this is just too much incoming damage unless you have realy incredible gear )
Once the corridor is cleared, it becomes realy simple. Have some DD's shoot at the dragon, tank the mobs right at the entrance where they spawn, and dont stand in the blue AoE.
As for holding aggro, use your normal aoe tank cicle. Thunder clap, shockwave, cleave ( i hope you have the glyph of cleave ) tab alot. By the time the next pair spawns and runs down the corridor, both thunderclap and shockwave should be off cooldown.
Those are important. Dont worry if sometimes one DD gets a bit agro from one mob that is almost dead anyway. But you have to know when the next wave spawns, how much you will pull with it, and you have to have initial agro on all 4 mobs.|||thank you!
This WAS my second time in UP, and my first on heroic, so i do agree that my knowledge of the number and timing of the mobs was not great!
I'm going to have to try your advice...i too really want that sword!! I think with a bit more organization with our dps (not to mention stressing to them to remain out of the blue mist) that it may have been a bit more successful.
Now, i was tanking the majority of the mobs by the door where they spawn...should I be moving out of the blue mist, or should the healer be able to heal the tank while in the mist...i found if I moved out of that doorway, it was just a mess...yet it was difficult for our healer to keep me alive through the mist.|||Tikki
You have to move out of the mist. Well, clothies do... not sure how hard it's hitting you for. On heroic it hits my priest for 5000 per tick. 4 ticks and I'm dead. The group can't ask the healer to heal everyone through that - they need to heed the first rule of WoW instancing - if it's on the floor and it's not the floor, don't stand in it. Note that the dragon lines up on one side or the other so people can tell where the mist will be coming from before he breathes it out.
2F has the tanking right. You can pause and kill the large pack if you want... after that it's as he says. Once you're down there, the range should stay back and not gather near the harpoon launchers as should the healer. One melee should grab the harpoons and launch them when the "Skadi's in harpoon range" emote happens. You can have 2 melee or even a melee and one ranged do this so you get 2 harpoons on him each time. HOWEVER.... he lands after 5 harpoons (on heroic) and whirlwinds.... so if you have 2 people launch harpoons on the first and second passes, have one of them move back... have the other launch the 5th harpoon and then run back down the hallway a bit and SAY in vent that they're doing this so that the tank knows he's landing. That way tha tank takes the initial WW. The healer needs to know that this is coming. He periodically WWs and people need to stay away from him (and melee needs to run out when he starts this).
How are you guys dying? Is the healer not able to keep up? Are people standing in the mist? Getting caught in WW?

Before it was on farm, many hours, for some guilds.
After it was on farm, three or four hours maybe.|||Quote:

As stated above....it depends on the guild. For a progression raid, it is not unusual for a "full" run to take days... We split Black Temple into three days when it was still progression for us. Farm status? About 3 hours.|||*Points at the above posts*
... And THAT'S the reason why original Hardcore raiding guilds are PO'd at Wrath... A PUG can clear Naxx in about 3 hours as far as I've seen.
Remember Molten Core? 3 Hours on farm, maybe 2 1/2. BWL? Easily 5+ hour run even if you all knew it well, you usually had at least 1 wipe.|||Quote:

Yep. The good old days. Here's praying that Icecrown has a little more teeth than the neutered naxx does, or my guild will implode from boredom.|||Hell, even today with 80s, SWP is still somewhat difficult due to the fact that all the fights are REALLY technical and require pinpoint strategies and tactics. Honestly, I'm fine with the whole "let's make it more casual" I would love for everyone to be able to see Arthas... It's just that... Everyone shouldn't be able to get his uber loot IMO... If you make it too easy, all the raiding guilds (This is more of a PvE game IMO.) are going to go "Wtf? I just cleared the hardest instance in-game in a week... Now I have to wait 6 months for an expansion?" then you lose your 5% population to another game possibly.|||Quote:

Sunwell Plateau.
And, I've seen Arthas plenty of times, even on my tauren shaman. He's the stealth void reaver of Icecrown...shot my husband down on a quest once while I laughed...
Hubby: Wth just happened? I got shot down.
Semii: You agroed Arthas.
Hubby: What?
Semii: You agroed Arthas. You know, the Lich King?
Hubby: How?
Semii: He's standing on that hill right there....|||Lol, I meant actually fight him in an instance =P.
Yeah, I saw him during a quest where you could actually attack him... I saw he had like... 110 million health or something like that? That'd be fun to see a group try to 40-man him in the open world if they're all on the same quest =P.
hi, been think about running Sunwell Platau (sry bad speller) and i was wondering how long is it normally in time taken for lvl 70's to run it.

Favorite boss battle in WoW
[:1]What boss battle in instances did you find the most fun and/or memorable?
My favorites would be:
C'Thun: Highly enjoyale battle despite its difficulty, dodging the eye beams and then in phase 2 going to his stomach. It's a shame hardly anyone goes to AQ40 anymore.
Ragnaros: "You have failed me, Executus! Justice shall be met, indeed!"
Murmur: Funny sounds during the fight
Malygos: I like the whole concept of the magic war against him, and the flying dragon phase is fun.|||Moam senses your fear.|||Has to be C'thun. Man that was epic.
On a more specific note, it has to be my guild's first kill of Ebonroc. Our tanks realy didnt have any concept of a taunt rotation back then. They kept missing the debuff, and Ebonroc healed and healed and healed again and again. After 20 Minutes, we had him under 50% for the first time. After 21 Minutes, he was back at 100 %. The entire fight took over 45 Minutes. I was oom at least half of that time. Luckily we braught tons of healers back then ^^|||Quote:
Moam senses your fear.
Great, one mysterious quote and I squander several hours on reading wowwiki again. Thanks a lot!|||The stairway encounter in Zul'Farrak.
In terms of raids... Razorgore, Reliquary of Souls and for some sadistic reason Gorefiend.|||The second to last boss in Magister's Terrace. I still think that was an awesome idea.|||Teron Gorefiend. When I got that one down, I felt truly competent.
For simple !!!!!, Archimonde and Prince Malchezzar, for the same reasons. You expect these giant Eredar Lords to lumber along, and well...damn... they're nimble little cusses, ain't they?|||As far as five mans go, has to be Princess Theradas. Mara was an awesome instance anyway, but the final boss of the instance was freaking awesome. And hilarious. She's...so...beautiful. Oh, and FARTS!
From a nostalgia standpoint, that's probably my favorite one (even though I ran that instance like crazy back in the day). Raid content? I missed out on pretty much all of TBC and most of vanilla. Still, I think Vael is one of the most fun and interesting fights out there (and groups of 80s still have trouble doing it!)
As for from Wrath? Probably anub'arak just because it takes skill. I don't have a particular favorite from naxx because I haven't run it that much, but I do actually enjoy the Vault fight.|||For me: Shade of Aran
No aggro table is lots of fun.
For pure chaos: Terestian Illhoof
Tons of imps running around and you need to find the one sap in chains (thank god for targeting macro's).|||There are so many awesome fights in this game it's so hard to pick a single one. I used to really like the Netherspite fight, with the portals and the beams n the switching beams.
Haven't done any vanilla or any TBC except Kara though, so I'm pretty sure I'm missing some great fights.
I like pretty much any fight that involves tank (me) tactics =P.

Raiding basics
[:1]Level 69 Blood Elf Mage, Frost spec
Realm: Malfurion
I was just wondering how to get into raid groups. I'm currently in a guild right now, but it's the classic "leveling" guild and seeing as I'm about to hit 70, I'm debating leaving the guild. This is another thing in itself...every time someone leaves the guild (especially 60+ players) every guildie who's on moans and groans about how that guy is such a jerk for leaving, etc, etc.
Can anyone offer some advice as to which raids I would first be attempting and how?
I also have another issue...at the moment I'm studying abroad in New Zealand and have yet to pick up Wrath because it's close to 70 or 80 bucks over here. As a broke college kid, I ain't shellin' out that cash when I can get it in the States for what...30? 40?
So...am I stuck at 69/70 until I go home to get Wrath or is there any raids 60+ that I can do? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks.|||There are relatively few players out there stuck at L70 so it definately won't be an easy thing to do. In any case you can probably get into a casual group doing Karazhan for the achievement.
The question will probably boil down to how to gear up for them. L70 greens should boost you up to raid-level easy enough w/o having to farm L70 heroics (good luck doing those). Getting hit capped will be the hardest so I'd shop around for what you can do to remedy that (gemming and enchanting for hit, talenting for Elemental Precision).
After that it's opening up the LFG-tool and waiting and hoping.
You might get lucky and find a TBC-only guild though!
Ow, and isn't it possible to get someone you know in the US to buy Wrath and mail you the cd-key (someone you trust obviously, like yr mom)? Or even buy the upgrade from the Blizz store? After all, all you REALLY need is your account upgraded, the data you can easily download.|||Thanks for the info. Now that you mention it, I probably could get someone to mail me the CD key.
Over here the internet is paid for by data usage. I can buy "credit" for 1 GB, 10 GB and 60 GB per month. If I go over that amount of data transfer/usage (I buy the 10 GB) my internet is cut and I can either wait for the plan to renew or buy more credit. It's one of the few downfalls...quite frustrating.
Regardless...thanks for your help. I'll see what I can do.|||Quote:

There aren't many people doing level 70 raids anymore besides the occasional achievement run. If you are trying to run raids for raid experience, good luck. Get in the LFG channels and cross your fingers or try and put one together yourself by spamming trade or general in Shat. If you are trying to run raids for gear upgrades, I wouldn't waste your time. Your time would be better spent leveling a 2nd char to 70 while you wait for your WOLK upgrade. You'll replace everyone of those hard earned purples with low level greens as soon as you hit Northrend. It seems that every 3rd quest in Northrend gives some type of armor as the quest reward.

Raiding Mages
[:1]Might be better in the mage section but as its about raids ill try here.
Been doing naxx with guild every week and i think we are slightly lacking in DPS and could possibly do more.
Myself and a friend are both arcane mages who top the chart in dps.
Would it give better dps if i was to switch to a ffb spec to incorporate the scorch benefits. Would that both increase mine and the other mages dps?
Im new to ffb specs so any help apreciated.
Thanks all|||you need someone who gives the crit buff to the raid. If you dont have it, make sure that you get someone to do it. The debuff increases the entire raids DPS. Dont think about your damage only.|||Thanks for the reply.
Going to give it a try for Fridays naxx and see how it goes. Im severly lacking in hit so that will need sorting but other than that hopefully it will improve things. Drop my sp by 100 to get the hit cap wont make much dif with the sp off the flask to bring it back up.
Anyway thanks|||Get the hit cap asap. Every miss is a wasted amount of damage. Hit capped with lower SP is better than missing with high SP.|||I am right in saying aint I that the hit cap for a ttw/fb mage would be circa 400+ (about 470) without spriest and stuff.
Capped at arcane so gotta try and get me up to 400+ somehow.
Edit: Found it - its 447 or somthing like.|||http://www.wowwiki.com/Spell_hit - theres a handy table towards the bottom that'll help you.|||I don't believe there is any tables out there more informational about hit, or more summarized than this one. I have referred to it many times. If you have any questions about it just ask.
MOST* alliance raid groups have a draenai and a boomkin or shadowpriest. Which means you only need 341 hit rating to be capped, if you have NO talents in any +hit abilities such as elemental precision. The current top dps spec is ttw/fireball which requires a 341 rating as it has no points in any +hit talents.
I'm unsure if I can link to the following sites, but i'm sure someone will come along and nuke them if they aren't allowed. If I could think of a way to replicate the data without linking I would. However the data is dynamic which lends better to a link.

Dps problems during raids.
[:1]http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...orms&n=Laochin
Thats my gear, im not "perfectly" geared, but my base AP and Hit rating are pretty good, from what ive been told.
But i still can't get my dps over 2k..
My rotation is
Concencration, JoW, CS, and Divine Storm, and Excursism, But it still seems like my DPS is Always low in raids.
In heroics i can pull around 2k-2500
I've asked people and my guild and they cant tell me the answer, so i thought i would come to you guys for help.

What seal are you using? Are you using might or kings?|||I'm using might, and i use seal of blood/matyr|||isnt 2-2.5k acceptable for someone without a single epic item and still quite a few green items ?|||Ret doesnt really have a set rotation, but rather a priority list. CS, (Hammer of Wrath), Judgement, DS, Exorcism, (Holy Wrath). If 2 skills come off cd at the same time use the higher priority one, but dont wait for a higher prio to come off cd in half a sec if you can use another one right now. Seal should be Blood/Martyr.
For gearing you should aim for hit cap, which is 8% for melee. You're a bit over the cap and could trade 0.63% worth of rating for str by regemming. You have 0 expertise which is rather huge, but I'm not sure if it's worth gemming for. As a rule of thumb get to hit cap by whatever means necessary, then gem str and get expertise as close to cap as possible from gear. Also you want the agi & increased crit damage meta. For the 1 blue gem requirement you can get a hybrid with hit if you need it or a prismatic Enchanted Tear.|||id say your dps is ok considering the gear you have. you not got anything enchanted and its a mix of greens blues and the odd opic thrown in|||Quote:

get better gear. enchant your gear. gem your gear.
Dont use the pvp stuff for Pve, get proper PvE gear.

"ENCHANT your gear"
I don't know how to say the rest in a nice way so I'll just say it. If you are getting into raids (10 or 25 mans) with no enchants, you are probably in a PUG where all 10 or 25 people are from completely different guilds and the raid doesn't get very far. I've been in these and get very frustrated. I can't really complain since I'm learning most of the fights myself though. Your better raids will gear check you before inviting and if you aren't enchanted, you can forget an invite.
2 good websites that will give you advice on gear upgrades are
maxdps.com and be.imba.hu.
Both will also tell you where to obtain the upgrades (be realistic...Don't set a goal of an Uldar heroic item to replace a green). I take all of my character's items and pick 3 upgrades for each slot that are reasonably obtained and mark where (boss or badges and instance) those drop.
Any help is welcome, please and thank you|||http://be.imba.hu/?zone=US&realm=Alt...racter=Laochin
That 29 missing hit rating would help a bit.
Unfotunately i dont know enough about your class to help with rotation.
If you have high ping get Quartz addon that will help with you spam skills more effectively.|||Quote:

I wasnt really asking if you thought my dps was ok?
Kinda need construction criticism, so i can make my dps better.|||Quote:

get better gear. enchant your gear. gem your gear.
Dont use the pvp stuff for Pve, get proper PvE gear.
There you have it.
Your dps is ok considering the gear you wear. With better gear and gemming/enchanting you can probably double your dps.|||Quote:

I can't check your armory or be.imba from work but reading the comments, the answer is simple.

Macro during Malygos fight
[:1]I want to use macros during the Malygos fight p3.
All cast bars are removed during p3 and replaced with the 'vehicle' UI, so I can no long use key binds for the Macro.
Any suggestions how to solve this?|||What do you want to do with the macro ?|||If you use an addon for your action bars they should have a per-bar option not to hide when in a vehicle. Otherwise... you're boned .
