ele shammy needs help!

guys quick question for you all

i am almost always top dps and damage in most 70th instances (appart from my guild where the hunters beat the poo out of me!)

we are all talking about kara atunement and i am almost there, but i can find preyty little about kara spec's for my class?

http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sh...tel&n=Beefyboy

what are your thoughts on this set up? it is very balanced fro PvE,i am afraid i have done almost no PvP

many thanks in advance

ps a lot of people say i should change to enhancement, this is NOT gonna happen as I play for kicks and laughs and i really do not want to have to relearn playing my toon again!|||Your spec is going to need some work, You didn't get the crit or hit talents from resto- which are the backbone of your damage. You also took eye of the storm, which isn't really a PvE talent- something crits you in a raid, you're dead.

Here's a classic elemental raiding spec:

http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/ba...01005000000000

There is very little wiggle room in a proper PvE elemental spec. The only real variation is where you put the "wasted" point needed to unlock higher tiers in elemental. I have put it in call of flame just because there are a few situations where it would be useful- you could spend it elsewhere, if you wanted- like the eye of the storm that you seem to like so much :)

Your gear is also all over the place- you're still using green gems, and you're gemming for +healing and int seemingly randomly. Your first priority should be spell damage, followed by spell crit (e.g. when you want to keep a socket bonus, dmg/crit works). You need to sort out your enchants, too- enchant all your gear that can take onet- again, enchanting for spell damage first. Stamina kit on your gloves should be replaced by spell damage- as an example. Lots of other items can be improved by enchants, or easily replaced.

Your basic setup is to drop wrath of air, mana stream, totem of wrath, and whatever earth totem you see fit (you do have tremor totem on a hotkey, right?). Your basic spell rotation is to spam LB, and once aggro is solid, throw in CL too, whenever it's cooled. Where possible (range and mana allowing), keeping a flame shock up on the target will boost DPS also.

Hope this helps- all a bit rushed and vague, but I think I covered the basics. Have fun :)|||yeah you are right about the gems, in my first attempt i really didn;t know where i was going but i do now! which is why i have blue kit with rubbish gems sitting in the bank.

thanks for the heads up on the talent tree, when you see it, it is kinda obvious!

dont worry about the enchants, guildie is already on it, gloves expecially, greater healing enchant i think it was

and lastly that spell circle is where i am at now

but with this set up and the extra 54 spell damage i will get from enchants ( there will be new kit but its slow) will i preform ok in kara?|||Yeah, there isn't much need to get your gemming right when you're not pushing things. You don't really need to min/max much before you start raiding, as stuff is tuned to be easy. Totally understandable, as you're just chewing through the low-level content at a crazy speed.

Glad the talents thing made sense- both shammy DPS specs get a massive hand with hit from their spec. When you go into raid instances, the mobs can be lv 73e, which means you'll see a lot of resists without a chunk of hit. Speccing properly means you are free to stack the spell damage like crazy, which boosts your damage no end.

The last bit is rather hard to answer. I'd say your crit is low, and your spelldamage a bit low too- but you're going to be getting more crit from talents too. I'd be inclined to take along some wizard oil to put on your weapon, and some spelldamage food/elixirs to give you an extra boost. I'd say you were sitting at the lower end of what's acceptable. However, it's possible to make it work if you can keep your spell cycles tight and consistent.

The big change you'll face is having to make sure you're always on the right target (you will probably be following a "main assist" who will pick your targets), and not pulling aggro. A lot of things you'll be facing from here will be taunt immune, and will hit hard enough to kill you. The optimal balance is to shoot for as much damage down on the right target as possible, without ever pulling aggro. Crack that, and you'll be home and dry. I'm assuming that your guild is using the Omen/Threat addon- this is a total godsend for tanks and DPS :-)

As to the enchants- why greater healing? Elemental is a damage spec- you should be enchanting for spelldamage, not healing. If you want to do DPS, you use spelldamage gear and enchants with the above spec. If you want to heal, you need +heal gear and enchants, and we can talk about options for a nice restoration spec.

I understand that some enchants are expensive (spelldamage on bracers especially!), so you may not want to put that on a cheap quest reward. You won't find much great spelldamage mail in Karazhan, outside of the tier 4 tokens (though the mail head from Opera is pretty nice). You'll be saving up the badges for some of the great badge rewards- the boots, gloves and chest are all rather kickass, for example. A nice upgrade for your bracers would be the Vindicator bracers that you can buy for honour and BG tokens. There are some nice bits like rings, necks and a rather nice spelldamage dagger that drop in there, though- they'd suit you well.

Yeah, I am sure you'll be OK, as long as you keep focus and go with some consumables, though.
