Is raiding mandatory in your guild?

Just curious on this one, mainly because of a couple of recent comments by YG (alts in raids) and rgirty (struggling for raid numbers because ppl are farming badges for 2.4).

We only raid (25-man) 3 nights a week, but those raids are mandatory - everyone is expected to sign up, obviously sometimes there are RL events that make this impossible, but over time a +80% attendance is expected.

What happens in other people's guilds?|||Quote:

Depends on the guild.

Some don't care, others require 90%+ attendance.|||Meh - I'm being totally technically challenged for some reason trying to repost! Sorry mods!

Yes, Aerath - what I meant was what happens in your guild. I'm aware that all guilds work differently - just curious at to the experiences of posters to this particular forum.|||In my guild, it's assumed you're going to raid, and you sign out if not. Works well. We only have two or three raid nights a week right now until Sunwell opens- it's enough for all the t6 bosses. Other nights, we do bear runs in ZA, clear Karazhan on alts etc. People are expected to be available to raid when there's a raid scheduled, or they drop a friendly note explaining what's up.

That said, it's a raiding guild- other guilds may be very different.|||mandatory indeed.

another reason why i went to casual status. i just couldnt raid any more 6 hours a day, 6 days a week.|||I am in a raiding guild, not harcore but everyone is expected to attend some 25-man raids. If you continually fail to attend without good reason you will lose your raider status.|||Quote:

So, to put it in other words, you are not REQUIRED to raid....You merely lose your ability to get quick epics if you do not raid.

This is also how it is in my guild. I quite raiding, and do not EVER go anymore...But, they didn't kick me. they may never kick me....|||My guild posts 5 raids a week on the diary, however raiding is not compulsory. Therefore there are some in the guild whom never raid and some whom raid all of them.

It is a casual guild, which is good and bad at once. We are in the middle of SSC / TK, and before long will be looking at the bosses, however I really not sure how we'll achieve that without some firm rules.

What this also means is some nights a raid will not happen as not enough dps/heals/tanks subscribed, but generally it's ok.

At the moment people turn up without pots, enchants etc. however not enforced as not hardcore raiding. This could however limit our progression in the longer term.|||Raiding isn't manditory in our guild, but we're quite clear when people join, we don't consider ourselves a raiding guild, more a caual guild that raids. Heck, we're still trying to find a time that works for enough people to get a second day scheduled for Kara.|||We don't require people to raid, but without 75% attendance you don't get a first choice spot.
