Leotheras!

Constructive comments welcome.

Be kind. The ending is.... "honest" lol.

Leotheras Vid

Not sure why this happens but... sometimes in the split phase, the demon being tanked by warlock, turns and fireballs me while tanking leo humanoid form. I dont know why. On this vid, he hit me for 8K then 10K+ and killed me, then went back to the warlock. I already had a couple debuffs on me from the "initial split" where the melees get hit a little bit. But then kept picking on me from over yonder.

Me best guess is, the warlock is backing up for whirlwinds.... and shadow of leo is out of his range. But he doesnt seem to have a range... and that would imply, a shared agro table (like HKM... some threat on leo carries over to demon) But it happens ALL the time

Leo is still problematic for us. Hydross and fathom lord have been taking 1 or 2 tries. Lurker usually 1. Other farm bosses 1 or 2 if accident happen.

Leo.... 4-5 tries. Baring things like, people getting MC'd and fearing away the MT. Or occasionaly chaining WW into the raid. Most our wipes are in the split phase. Either the lock tank dies, or I die. It sucks up a lot of time. Prevents us from downing all four in one evening

Lock tank has cap resist (with buffs, pet, heroic badge gear) and extra stam items like, of-stamina wand, misc pieces and so forth to bring his health up. Fort flask and crawdad food. But in the combat log he'll take resist, resist, resist, 10k, resist, resist, resist, 13k and so forth. 15% a long time to tank demon it seems.

Myself, I wear some pieces of damage gear. ... but keeping 490 defense, not exchaning any item that increases my shield slam, and keeping HP in the 18K to 20K range. But 8K/10K fireballs..... dead

If we could get better control during the split phase....|||Is that Warlock specced for Nether Protection ?

If so, tell him to get the hell out of that spec.

I'm not 100% sure it makes a difference on Leotheras, but I do know it does on the Kael'thas fight, where the add will turn away from the tanking warlock if Nether Protection procs as she can't damage him. It seems a likely explanation here.

Try to check how many debuffs the Warlock has when you start the split phase. If he has a number of debuffs still, you really rather would want to wait a tiny bit till they've dropped.|||Interesting.

A nether protection proc would show in the combat log dump, right?

AHA! THEY DO!

TY TY TY. So in becomming immune to shadow and fire, the shade of leo cant attack em at all eh?|||Quote:

That's basically the idea ye. And since it can't, it'll nuke something else instead.|||I'll be talking with you yamaha, we should get alar down tonight.. leaving only kael in tk.

hydross/lurker down in ssc so time to focus there.|||IIrc, you still have some bosses left in SSC before Vashj, right ?

Do those before you go and tickle Kael.

It's not even close in how much easier those other bosses (excepting Vashj, which might actually be harder than Kael) are.|||Quote:

Were gonna take the SSC route and just bag VR/Solarian on a "we need an easy no stress boss" night

We had our first night of morogrim (3-4 attempt) and sad to say it did not go as well as other bosses.

We tried the strat where all in a group behind, and a holy pally with righteous fury healing / concecrating.

We had a lot of problems. Pally getting watery grave happened ALOT.

Then the watery grave right after quakes, killed people before getting heals. That and, since everyone in a ball around the pally, everyone is in range of the quake.

And random people just kealing over, maybe from combination of things or being slightly outside the consecrate.

Also learned very quickly not to put earthshields, PoM's and lifeblooms on the MT =(

Also very tough when, people are taking damage and two main heals got watery grave, MT died.

Kinda a bloodbath =/

But, were gonna try a different strat next time. Having the pally, their healer, and a lock over by the watery graves, out of range of all danger. That strat looks really promising. But I suspect it will be hard not to agro merlocs to other healers n people.

BTW shooting morogrim in the back then feigning death did not make any merloc packs go away...|||Maybe you're entering the room from the back- we normally come in from the main cave of SSC- you have to kill those packs. It's the smaller ones running around behind the boss that I was referring to.

Next.. we normally have 3-4 healers on the MT, helps a lot with unlucky graves... Raid healers can also help out when tank healers are graved, as long as they call out in time on vent.

Also, I am puzzled by "learned very quickly not to put earthshields, PoM's and lifeblooms on the MT"- PoM and ES don't generate threat for the caster- but for the one healed. This is never going to be a bad thing.

Morogrim isn't a trivial boss like Hydross or Lurker. He needs a solid raid. It takes a while to get positioning and control of the fight, but it's really very doable. Frost traps to slow the incoming murlocs, and an AoE taunt rotation on the tanks helps a lot. We've done it many times without a tankadin, and it was no problem- we did, however, have a pally healing with righteous fury, towards the back, to help gather the murlocs. When the tanks have gathered them, mages frost nova- and that's when the AoE begins.

I wouldn't place those other people far from the raid. Optimally, you gather murlocs right near the boss, so he gets hit by AoE also, and people can easily be saved. One tweak that helps is putting shammies in AoE groups, for the tranquil air totem- a threat reduc which stacks with blessing of salvation.

Oh, and to Aerath- I'd say that from a co-ordination PoV, Kael'thas is a little harder than Vashj. The second advisor phase, tipping into fighting Kael himself is a lot harder to learn to control reliably than phase 2 of the Vashj fight- a lot of time will be spent getting this one choke point down to a fine art.|||Quote:

Yes it is. Several times the merlocs from the back hall swarmed me while I was tanking morogrim himself and I bit it. The time I didnt die, they eventually left me and killed random healers in the raid instead. Their supposed to go to the pally but combination of all three types of heals on the MT plus defiance etc etc etc.... = bad

We tried "tanking merlocs near walker for aoe". It was a DISASTER with random people dying here and there, and the healadin/tankadin getting watery graved and watching people die.

The vids of guilds having the healadin with fury + her healer + one warlock in the BACK she cannot get graved, that solves MORE problems than the alternative.

// Edit - Last comment

Alot of strats, vids, and peoples say things like "One of your main heals can get watery grave" or even "sometimes your merloc tank blah" or "sometimes 2 main heales blah"

Lets correct that using my experience.

EVERY ATTEMPT some main heals often 2 at a time get watery graved, and EVERY ATTEMPT your merloc tank will get watery graved, and EVERY ATTEMPT 1 or often 2 raid heals at a time get watery graved.

Point.
