Help us set up a 25 man raid

We are a new guild with LK release, so our name isnt very well known on our server. (Its getting better though)

We initially thought to focus on 10 man raiding, but since we roflstomped all 10 man content but Malygos (phase 3 with 3 minutes before enrage just need to get used to the dragons) we decided to try for 25 man raiding.

We are recruiting for a second Naxx 10 team and it is going rather fast. (6 slots filled after two days of recruiting)

Now, after we got the second team going, what should be the best action to take? Go for 25 mans? Set up a third Naxx team? (after a few weeks of two Naxx teams running of course)

And how much of each role do you need in a 25 man? How many tanks? How many healers? DPS? Ranged? Melee?

How many raiders do you need in total to keep a 25 man raid going? 35? 40? more?

Is 25 man raiding harder than 10 man raiding? Or is it the same difficulty just with more people?

Do you need epic gear for Naxx 25? Or are good blues more than enough?

Any other pointers you got for me?

A lot of questions and I most likely forgot some :p

H.|||As to Malygos - there's a daily right outside in Coldarra, that'll let you practise with the drakes. Those are pretty much the exact same as in the actual fight and it gives Wyrmrest Accord rep to boot. Might be worth pointing your guildies to it.

I would personally try for a 25group, rather than a third team. I find the 10man runs will happen on their own, outside of the 'official' runs, if you have enough keen raiders. And if not, there's no problem as long as people show up for the real runs.

How many of each role:

You'll want a bare minimum of 3 tanks, of any class.

You'll want a bare minimum of 7 healers (can be dropped to 6 once people gear up).

You'll want a minimum of 15 DPS. Personally, I don't give a toss what group make up you use, but you'd want a decent split between melee and ranged as well as the classes. However, the current 'everyone brings each buff' layout means that as long you've got the major buffs and classes sorted, you should be fine. I wouldn't bring 15 rogues, personally, but if you wanted to you could. They just would be waiting on gear to drop for ages and ages.

How many that means you need in the guild to keep the raids filled will depend on the type of guild you are. Do you require a 90% attendance? Or will two raids out of four do? In the first case, you can likely do with a roster of 30-35 (4-5 tanks, 8-10 healers, rest DPS). In the latter, you might need to go as high as 50 or 60. Mind you, I'm talking about active raiders here, which isn't necessarily the same as active members.

25Man raiding is exactly as hard as 10man. There's a couple differences (Thaddius is quite a bit harder in the 25man version, for example), but the general idea remains the same. It -can- be more difficult to raid with 25man - it's just harder to coordinate that many people at once and 25 people in a raid means you have an additional 15 people that can screw up at some stupid point. On top of that, there might be some more specific requirements - a fight like Instructor Razuvious requires at least two priests on the Heroic version. The 10man doesn't need any priests whatsoever.

I'd say you should be fine with regular Heroic gear (you know, the 5mans) for the most part. Patchwerk will destroy blue gear tanks though. He's probably the first real gear check you'll find in Naxx25.

Far as I'm concerned, you could just go ahead, grab 25 people and muck about a bit. The first fights in Naxx certainly are easy enough to get somewhere and Obsidian Sanctum with no drakes up is easy enough.|||once you have 2 teams running 10 man nax then it wont take you long to make sure everyone is geared for 25 man raids.

you dont need to be in epic gear to do 25 man raids but it really would help to have at least your tanks and healers kitted out.

to start running 25's you need a bare min of 6 or 7 healers and 3 tanks. on most of the fights you can struggle with 2 tanks but for patchwork if you dont have 3 tanks hen your going to wipe. and all 3 tanks need good gear as well as the healers or you wont make it. when you gear up you can do 25 naxx with 4 or 5 healers but they need good gear.

if you intend on being a semi hardcore raid guild doing 3/4 or more raids every week with 90% attendance then you can get away with 30-35 members but to be safe go for 40-50 max. in that mix id have 6 or 7 tanks 10 healers and the rest made up from casters and physical dps with a fair mix of different class's so your fully covered on buffs. also the more one of one class you have the longer it takes to gear them up.

good luck with your plans|||Flat out start recruiting for 25s. Believe me you'll get more applicants if people see you've at least started naxx not to mention it will gear you up much earlier
