Raiding basics

[:1]Level 69 Blood Elf Mage, Frost spec

Realm: Malfurion

I was just wondering how to get into raid groups. I'm currently in a guild right now, but it's the classic "leveling" guild and seeing as I'm about to hit 70, I'm debating leaving the guild. This is another thing in itself...every time someone leaves the guild (especially 60+ players) every guildie who's on moans and groans about how that guy is such a jerk for leaving, etc, etc.

Can anyone offer some advice as to which raids I would first be attempting and how?

I also have another issue...at the moment I'm studying abroad in New Zealand and have yet to pick up Wrath because it's close to 70 or 80 bucks over here. As a broke college kid, I ain't shellin' out that cash when I can get it in the States for what...30? 40?

So...am I stuck at 69/70 until I go home to get Wrath or is there any raids 60+ that I can do? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks.|||There are relatively few players out there stuck at L70 so it definately won't be an easy thing to do. In any case you can probably get into a casual group doing Karazhan for the achievement.

The question will probably boil down to how to gear up for them. L70 greens should boost you up to raid-level easy enough w/o having to farm L70 heroics (good luck doing those). Getting hit capped will be the hardest so I'd shop around for what you can do to remedy that (gemming and enchanting for hit, talenting for Elemental Precision).

After that it's opening up the LFG-tool and waiting and hoping.

You might get lucky and find a TBC-only guild though!

Ow, and isn't it possible to get someone you know in the US to buy Wrath and mail you the cd-key (someone you trust obviously, like yr mom)? Or even buy the upgrade from the Blizz store? After all, all you REALLY need is your account upgraded, the data you can easily download.|||Thanks for the info. Now that you mention it, I probably could get someone to mail me the CD key.

Over here the internet is paid for by data usage. I can buy "credit" for 1 GB, 10 GB and 60 GB per month. If I go over that amount of data transfer/usage (I buy the 10 GB) my internet is cut and I can either wait for the plan to renew or buy more credit. It's one of the few downfalls...quite frustrating.

Regardless...thanks for your help. I'll see what I can do.|||Quote:

Have your parents buy it for you in the States, take the CD key out of the box, and email it to you.|||And perhaps borrow the dvd from a friend? But that'll probably get you the oceanic version... and I don't know if you can install an oceanic Wrath on a US installation w/o it turning into an Oceanic installation.

Then again, that's what backups are for .|||Quote:

There aren't many people doing level 70 raids anymore besides the occasional achievement run. If you are trying to run raids for raid experience, good luck. Get in the LFG channels and cross your fingers or try and put one together yourself by spamming trade or general in Shat. If you are trying to run raids for gear upgrades, I wouldn't waste your time. Your time would be better spent leveling a 2nd char to 70 while you wait for your WOLK upgrade. You'll replace everyone of those hard earned purples with low level greens as soon as you hit Northrend. It seems that every 3rd quest in Northrend gives some type of armor as the quest reward.
