This seems unfair

[:1]I'm not sure how Blizzard could correct this (and I could well be wrong about the mechanics, because I've never seen it before and I'm not an experienced raider), but...... it seems unfair in some ways that you can die in an instance, lie there like a slug, turn down offers to resurrect, and still get the achievement. OK, maybe if you're killed in the last 30 seconds of killing the Big Boss, when he's down below, say, 25% or so, and you've worked really hard at it before dying, but......

Last evening our guild went to do the weekly. A couple of people had to cancel for good reasons, so we pulled in some from other realms. One of them got killed early on in the battle with the mechanical wonder, turned down one offer to resurrect (really everyone was too busy to pay a lot of attention to him) and just lay there. He got the achievement, laughed like mad about how this is his 'way' of doing instances, and was on his way.|||yep, theres alot of douchebags out there, you learn to put them on ignore pretty quick|||I'm not sure about the mechanics either, but does he also get to roll for gear while he's lying there?|||Long as he 'participated' in the battle he does.

Of course, he does eat a repair bill. And, raid leader can kick him for being totally stupid in which case he gets nothing.|||Quote:

I'd definitely vote for kicking if this ever happened again. Thing is, you're so busy in that last heroic effort to take down The Big Thing that you only pay attention to more important stuff than some guy lying there dead and not having participated at all. And yeah, he got a ring that did not suit his class at all (it enhanced shield use and he was a Death Knight) and took it. OK, not much use to put it on but it would sell and offset his repair bill.

Maybe people who turn down resurrection requests (and then don't resurrect at all, not even by going to the Spirit Healer and coming back in) could be automatically chucked out of the group and instance?

Playing this game is a real education in previously not seen human behaviour. I thought I knew a lot, but some of what I've seen or been told defies belief. Quite amazing.|||iirc if he's booted early enough he doesn't get anything, just like if you leave a raid near the start of a boss fight you don't get credit for it, found that out leaving enough bad ICC runs where it looks like its going to fail on marrowgar|||Kick him before the boss dies, that way he allready has a ID for Ulduar and can not finish the weekly, unless he makes a 25 man raid, whihc should be punishment enugh.

As for the mechanic : It makes sence that you get the right to loot and the achievement for being there. ( Just dont release the spirit, or it wont count ). Imagine you die at 11% on the lichking and you get nothing even though you played your role in the 4 phases before.|||Quote:

I understand that. And yes, I think it's reasonable if you get killed during the last gasps of the big thing you came to kill. You probably barely have time to either be resurrected (if anyone's got time to do so), or go out to the Spirit Healer and come back in. You've worked hard, done your part, and if you fail in the last few seconds, well....... you deserve a reward.

But the guy I'm talking about was killed bare seconds after we started on the boss. And, as I said earlier, you're so busy bashing and hacking it almost doesn't register. After all, he's not a guildie and you've never seen him before. He wasn't a tank or healer. You probably couldn't remember his name if you had to.

But his death was a strategy that he bragged he'd been using often. Hang on until you get to the final big guy, start bashing, then give up and let yourself be killed, lie there, and get your reward. Not nice.|||Then, if he does it enough, the name will stick. He'll make 'friend' lists with a note attached so even a name change won't help him.

And, tbh, if a Raid Leader doesn't notice that, they need more practise at the job.|||There are times in certain battles when if someone dies, they should stay dead even if there is a battle rez to get them up (Deathbringer Saurfang comes to mind here), but if they're doing it just to get an easy achievement, they are complete idiots. This is why I'm glad we have a dedicated forums for my server, which means that if anyone does something like this, they get put down on the forums and word soon spreads about them. Right now, that's all you can really do to stop them.
