How much harder/easier is WoW now?

[:1]I quit WoW just after farming everything upto Eredar Twins and Muru Phase 1, but not really much farther and quit after the 4 week lolfest Kil'Jaeden became in preparation for WotLK. I've been wondering all day especially when someone told me that Lich King is here this morning.

Precisely how much harder/easier has WoW become since its peak before WotLK? Like is Normal just a slap keyboard and win and the hard mode is similar or harder than tBC? I honestly have no idea and would like to hear from a Vet.

Bonus points if you can tell me whether Vanilla WoW endgame was harder than tBC? All people mentioned to me was that it was a grind and painful and that it was harder simply, because coordinating 40 people was the hardest part.|||I'll pass on the vanilla bit - haven't done AQ40 nor old Naxx, so don't quite feel qualified there. I will say that the first raids weren't hard. Lack of experience on Blizzard's end as well as the raiders' meant they were far less intricate initially.

The start of WotLK was a joke. No two ways about it, though a few select hardmodes actually took effort at the time, in appropriate gear (Sartharion 10man w/ 3 drakes up comes to mind).

Ulduar arrived and the easy modes were just that - easy. However, take a look at how many guilds have defeated Mimiron Hardmode or Yogg-Saron with 0 watchers up and you can see they're far from easy. The big difference though, is that raid composition is far freeer (up to a point) and profession stacking is no longer needed. No need to stack multiple shamans for heroism, no need for the entire guild to reroll Leatherworking etc etc.

ToC is a major letdown to be honest. The hardmodes appear to mostly be about 'more' dps and 'more healing' than actually changing the encounter. Faction Champions just requires a bit more crowd control. The only really impressive encounter there, if I'm to believe people, is Anub'Arak hardmode. We're working on learning that encounter currently and from what it looks like, I think Leeching Swarm is an awesome way to really turn raid healing upside down. On top of that, it's hard to pick *a* specific person that's important enough for a soul stone. You need pretty much most of the people in the raid for one job or another.

But I have to say that in TBC most fights didn't really cost a lot of effort to learn, once TK and especially SSC got a once-over. Sure, there was Gorefiend (also known as "please don't let it be that guy to get the ghosts!"), but most of the fights were rather straight forward or hinged on a few people only (Illidan Flame tanks or the Warlock tank...).

The only fight that really stands out in all of BT was Reliquary of Souls for me.

In summary, I think some encounters in WotLK are more challenging than anything before them, execution-wise. Most still won't get close to M'uru-tough, but overall, more is demanded of the entire raid than in previous raid tiers. However, with youtube or tankspot videos, entire strat sites as well as page upon page of info on sites like Elitist Jerks, the average raider is far more knowledgable than before. And experienced, meaning you can identify certain abilities/problems easier.|||%>_<% it's so hard now .but i have a good team in my server can get through all of the instance now lol i am lucky with that right ? lol .anyone who want some gears for memory in this patch can contact me , i am pleased to help u|||

And hell, some of the best players I know are not playing on high tech equipment. *They're* good, not their equipment. And yeah. We know it's you. And I'm sure there's an admin who will love to start a Monday off by showing you the door.|||.... Actually semi

the poster "equipment" meant a team of skilled players working together are like a piece of hi-tech equipment (although the term "well-oiled machine" is used more often for this).

You just agreed with what he REALLY said by disagreeing with what you THOUGHT he said .|||Quote:
