Naxxramas

So, how is the Dread Citadel treating everybody?

Any fights that you've particularily enjoyed - or still struggle with?|||it has treated me nicely. Cleared the 10 man version the second week Wotlk was released, cleared the 25 man version the 3th week Wotlk was released.

While i recognise most fights from pre BC, they all feel very different. Mostly because you just AoE your way trough the place, while every trash pack was a challenge in the old version.

But i realy like it. It is accessable, yet not so easy that you can go there with your green unenchanted items of loose. Still easy enugh that you can clear the place in 3 hours if your group is realy organised.|||4 Horsemen has been fun. The fact i can tank as a mage is fun. I feel ot has been handles well by blizzard.|||I've yet to enter it, but I hate it when people complain "It's so easy"... Didn't Blizzard repeatedly say they want WotLK to be easier than BC and regular WoW? They want the encounters to be unique and a bit tough, but accessible to all.|||Quote:

Have to agree. Whilst it -is- easy, there's still plenty left you can wipe on if you're doing it for the first time. On top of that, this is aimed at Kara guilds, at Kara level. As such, it's doing a swell job. I do feel the term 'heroic' for the 25man version creates some wrong expectations, but people will get used to that soon enough, I'd wager.

What is the main problem here, is simply that

1) the people that did it first are among the hardcore crowd, that

2) likely raided BT or Sunwell before WotLK (and as such are not entirely the focus aim for Naxx) and probably even

3) raided the old Naxx.

I think 3 in particular is a major issue - so many people that did Naxx initially remembered what the old Naxx was like, which - back then- was a marvel of raiding. They're drawing comparisons where a new crowd wouldn't, and it's those comparisons that turn the new Naxx into something it isn't meant for and thus fails at being.

//edit: Mind you, they never said they wanted WotLK to be -easier- than Sunwell. They wanted the initial raids to be easy and the later raids to not be completely screwed up in difficulty by Raid Stacking rather than Instance Design. I fully expect Ulduar to be a couple notches up in difficulty.|||if ulda is on par with naxx then i will be very dissapointed. so far naxx is fun but i wouldnt say its much of a challenge. with different teams we have wipped once or twice but thats just down to members getting to grips with the fight. so far with a good team and dps all doing over 2k dps we can do a wing an hour without to many problems.|||I recall one of the devs saying that Sartharion with multiple drakes up is a good example of an Ulduar-difficulty encounter.|||How long does this take to go through? I'd really like to try but not sure I can commit to the amount of time needed. :( This is the reason I will probably never get to raid and will be stuck doing instances.|||I was worried about it being too easy from what I've heard and if you're a tight raid guild with min/maxers out the wazoo who raided the old Naxx I suppose it is.

But my guild raids a couple of times per week and is a home for people who want to b serious about raiding while doing it, but don't want to raid 4-6x per week. None of us had seen the old Naxx and especially due to the holidays we've subbed people in and out.

And you know what? It's fun. We wiped a couple of times of 4 Horsemen, then killed them... but most of the dps and 2 healers died with Zeliek and Blaumex (sp?) up and at 50%... so the DK tank, the pally tank, the warrior who'd been tanking Zeliek and a healer finished the fight. Yeah, sloppy etc... but it was fun.

We haven't cleared it all yes (Saph and KT left) but for people who've never seen it before, we're at the equivalent of Nightbane in Kara in 6 weeks post launch... vs the several months for Kara. It will take us a bit to get everything smooth and then we can launch a second team (one advantage of subbing people in.. we have maybe 15 who've been there).

Overall, I'm liking the heroics and Naxx. OS seems a bit of a pushover with no drakes and I'm not a fan of 'but make the same encounter harder' as content... but I expect it will be end of Jan before we've got Malygos down and are farming him. Hopefully we'll have a patch soon thereafter and can keep rolling smoothly.|||ok so now i have to say naxx gets a little bit harder. some friends set a new guild up week before xmas and so far we are 3/4 naxx 25 cleared. every boss has been fairly easy with maybe 2 or 3 wipes just to get to grips with the group make up vs the fight. last night we spent a fair bit of time saying hello to patchwork, this has taught us 2 things 1st we need 3 really good gearedf tanks not just 3 skilled tanks. 2nd we need more than the 4 healers we had with us.

no doubt we will clear naxx 25 this week and wonder what the fuss was about lasty night. but i still like the place
