Shade of Aran - 2 healers or 3?

If you're going in with a solid group of DPS'ers, decently geared DPS'ers and well geared healers is Shade doable with 8DPS and 2 healers?|||Yep, but most people do it with three.|||I've done upwards of 60% of the heals for my raid on Aran, it's definitely possible with 2.|||Done it with 2. It's not hard as long as everyone does everything right (no moving during FW etc). The main disadvantage to having only 2 healers is that his aggro is random and he can aggro on a healer early and kill them, which leaves you with one healer - and that almost always means a wipe. If you're prepared to deal with that you can do Shade fine with 2 healers. HOWEVER... I'm assuming you have good dps and preferably some way control the elementals that spawn.|||I did it with two paladins the other day (I was one of them), and I was the only healing geared paladin. The other had an odd assortment of healing gear due to just getting his character retrieved from Blizzard's "deleted characters" folder. With two paladins it's really quite hard, since our heals/second sucks when the entire group is taking damage from Arcane/Frost/Fire, Blizzard, Elementals. We had to put our serious game faces on to heal through it, but it was great fun.|||Done it with two, done it with three.

Depends on how well geared and how competent the rest of the crew is.|||Done with two and three. The sticking point is mostly how sharp people are. If they have the sense to stay out of the blizzard (including the healers), and the DPS is solid enough then two is plenty. What's extra-annoying is dumbasses (including healers) who fail to get out of the blizzard and die early, grumble.|||Dual-healing this with a priest and resto druid is very easy. Both classes can heal on the move if necessary, can use anticipatory as opposed to reactive heals (again: if necessary), and have a great assortment of life-saving tools.

I have aggro indicators on my grid interface so the druid just lifeblooms and I cast a greater heal, or sometimes a PoM/shield on whoever is currently targeted by Aran. If it gets interrupted, I cancel, and the lifebloom doesn't cost that much mana for the druid.

Beyond that we just renew/rejuv anyone who takes incidental damage from Blizzard.

The only tough part of the fight is elementals (Binding Heal is great here if I get aggro on the water elementals as it will allow me to keep healing the raid while keeping myself up) and the pyro if it happens (druid uses tranquility on his group while I PoH my group.

I've seen it done with a shammy/pally combo when I was on my mage too, but they were T5 geared healers, and about 70% of the raid outgeared the instance at the time. It is possible, just harder than with priest or druid. And if you're using a pally/shammy heal combo, make sure they don't cast heals while standing anywhere near Aran, because his counterspell really sucks. (not a problem for priest/druids with PoM, Shield, Renew, Rejuv, Lifebloom, and Swiftmend to keep the healing going while avoiding a cast bar to CS)

Regarding moopy's point on Blizzard, we just have all the casters stop casting and run to Aran on a Blizzard. Once we know where its cast, we run behind it. As long as no caster/healer has a cast bar while near Aran you're safe from being CSed and no one gets hit by Blizzard.|||I think if the 3rd healer was replaced by a rogue or lock it would make things easier.

More interrupts or solid control of the elementals would break down the need for a considerable amount of healing.|||An extra shadow priest might be nice too. Extra mana regen for the two healers, and free healing with VE, as well as a fear bomb for the elementals to give time to the lock to banish-refear and everybody focus on one elemental then another one etc.
