[:1]As I have been hoarding my frosties for quite a while, I have suddenly found myself doubting as to whether or not I should actually keep saving them.
For after some careful looks around the various loot tables, I have come to the conclusion, that if you are consistently raiding ICC10, you'll find loot on par with the Tier 10 in there, or, alternatively, your level 245 emblem bought head and shoulders, will only be very minor downgrades compared to purchasing a new T10 set piece. Not to mention that there IS a slight, slight chance of managing to get it in VoA, be it the second step of it or not. Setpieces are still out there.
The bonuses are nice, one as to agree on that, however, it is important to note that, whilst some of them are very practical, not all of them are essential.
The sets look awesome, but I fear that, at the moment, that would be the only reason to buy one set of them, or, possibly, if you are consistently clearing at least 10 bosses in ICC10 per week to hoarde emblems and prepare for ICC25.
Especially when in as niched a task as a tank, I feel that my T10 will simply be replaced, or rendered an unnecesary a spenditure, very swiftly during raids. So far, I have yet to down Saurfang due to DPS shortcomings, but that is only a matter of time, and shortly I might well find myself with something tasty from VoA... if lucky.
I also believe that there are other people dwelling on this, whether or not the T10 gear would be worth the frosties or not, since, at most, there will be one other person needing on drops in ICC, and with a guild, prio on certain drops can be aranged.
For me, I think that T10, although looking great, simply is too expensive for what you get when you consider the various bonuses had from the basic set (i.e. the set without acces to ICC25). As such, I think I will, instead, place my emblems first toward a new cloak, and secondly toward the frozen key or guantlets (although, gauntlets will be last due to VoA possibillity of drops).
Would be nice to hear peoples opinions on T10 and its costs relative to availability of just as worthy gear.|||It really depends on how good your 4 piece set bonus is, and how likely you are to be able to get the tokens to upgrade those pieces.
For example, the shadow priest 4 piece is amazing, and it's very much worth it to use the non-upgraded pieces even if their is ICC 25 man equipment available.
For other classes, the bonus may only be worth it once they can get the upgraded version of the tier. (Of course, they still have to invest in the original piece as well, but they might not use it until they get a token. In these cases, it's better to hoard the badges until you get the token and they buy the piece, especially with the slots that can be picked up in VoA.)|||For me the issue is not T9 or T10, but how to upgrade those items that don't really have a lot of emblem-buyable sources.
I'd kill (a raidboss) for an upgrade to my Spectral Kris (iLvl 219) and Ward of the Violet Citadel (iLvl 200).|||For me the Tier10 gear is totally worth it. Along with my 10 man guild run and 25 man pugs, VOA10/25 and dailies I am acrewing around 45 emblems a week.
Today I will finally achieve my 4 set. Unfortunatly I have to remove my 264 shoulders but within 2 weeks Ill have the gloves via drop or more emblems thus allowing me to put on 264 shoulders again and keep my 4 set.
I suppose it depends on how far in you are. Im at putricide and have calculated what could drop up to that point and its percentage drop and at this stage to get upgrades would only be by getting the tier gear.
I already have the cloak and trinket, after the gloves ill be going for the 264 belt which is very very nice!
4 set Warrior Tank bonus does look kind of insane so Cattle is right on you gotta decide if the bonus is right for you.
Then again surely its better to have a bonus then no bonus at all considering the equipment is supposedly equivelent?|||Quote:

Just buy the gloves first ?|||it depends on your spec/class
as mentioned spriest is great, feral druid has a nice one, plus all leather gear is itemized crappily
the hunter tier gear is also very well itemized, the non-tier is hit heavy and crappy and the bonus procs are neato
I don't know the OP's class, plate tank I'm guessing, most of the 2pc bonuses are pretty good for threat, the 4pc have defensive measures of varying usefulness|||Quote:

I probably didnt explain very well. Here is my load out so far:
251 Helm (T10)
264 Shoulders
245 Chest
232 Hands
264 Legs (T10.5)
251 Shoulders (T10) in bank.
So tonight after the daily Ill buy the chest for 95 emblems and hope while saving for the gloves I get a lucky voa10 or 25 drop.
Tonight it will show as:
251 Helm (T10)
251 Shoulders (T10)
251 Chest (T10)
232 Hands
264 Legs (T10.5)
264 Shoulders in bank. This lets me achieve the 4 set bonus.
Phase 3 of my master plan:
251 Helm (T10)
264 Shoulders
251 Chest (T10)
251 Hands (T10)
264 Legs (T10.5)
251 (T10) banked once again.
Gutted I purchased my shoulders but who was I to know I would win 264 ICC25 shoulders?|||Quote:

Do the ICC 5mans? Free epics for everyone.|||Indeed, plate tank is my category, and a paladin at that.
Our mitigation at 4 pieces is +12% dodge, it is.. lackluster to say the least. It is useful, sure, but it isn't a straight up mitigation like that of Warriors or Deathknights.
As such, I am looking more and more on what else I can use the emblems for, and have come to the conclusion that I might as well buy the Corroded Skeletal Key, putting me at:
245 emblem head and shoulders
232 emblem chest (replacement imminent from deathwhisper)
rune polisher cape, replacement after skeletal key.
T9 hands and legs
Frosty Belt
Boots of Kingly Upheaval
bitter balebrew
frosties key
The tradeup is not all that great, but together, cloak+key will net me a similar amount of stamina and temporary mitigation I think and will cost me a mere 15 emblems more than a single piece of T10, which are, as said, not that great other than for set bonuses.|||Quote:

The key is a decent upgrade but the EoF Cloak, and Gloves provide massive armor and HP upgrades at the same time. The Key might be fine for the first one but consider getting all the bonus armor pieces you can find.
So perhaps the following:
1) Corroded Skeleton Key (60)
2) Sentinel's Winter Cape (50)
3) Gauntlets of the Kraken (60)
4) T10 Shoulders (60)
5) T10 Helm (95)
6) Cataclysmic Chestguard (95)
while making Pillars of Might for legs. (10k-ish gold)
This gets you 2pc and all the bonus armor stuff (since you have the belt already). Armor+HP are *the key stats* for tanking in ICC, and getting it on all the pieces you can will greatly increase your effectiveness as a tank.
In addition, if you have The Black Heart trinket, you should use that over Balebrew most of the time for the bonus armor (heavy spell damage fights being the exception). In the long run, you should aim to replace Balebrew with Glyph of Indomibility for 50 triumphs.
